Las Palmas

Saavumme Las Palmasin satamaan aamun sarastaessa ja varmistamme näin turvallisen rantautumisen vieraaseen satamaan. Takanamme on heikkotuulinen purjehdus yön yli Lanzarotelta Gran Canarialle. Heitämme ankkurin ja ryhdymme paikkaamaan hataraksi jääneitä yöuniamme.
ARC:stä (Atlantic Rally for Cruisers) johtuen marina on täynnä veneitä ja siitä syystä jäämme redille. Maihin soudamme jollalla monen muun purjehtijan tavoin, sillä lahti on täynnä ankkurissa olevia veneitä.
Meillä on kuitenkin sataman suihkutilat käytössämme, sillä hyvä irlantilainen ystävämme S/Y White Whisperin kippari Sean järjestää meille avaimen. Illastamme yhdessä Seanin kanssa Joonan purjehdusreissun päätteeksi. Tästä eteenpäin jatkamme purjehdusta enstisellä kokoonpanolla. Tosin Atlanttia ylittämään pyrkiviä nuoria on pilvin pimein ilmoitustaulut pullollaan ja heistä olisi mahdollisuus saada hyviäkin gasteja.
N. 300 000 asukkaan Las Palmas ja suuri laivasatama eivät sykähdytä meitä samalla tavalla kuin ne monet pienet viihtyisät marinat ja puhdasvetiset ankkurilahdet, joissa olemme vierailleet.
Las Palmas tarjoaa purjehtijalle kuitenkin erinomaisen mahdollisuuden hankkia veneeseen tarppeellisia varusteita. Mekin ostamme täältä aurinkopanelin parantamaan veneen omavaraisuutta sähkön tuotannon suhteen.
S/Y Ambran kippari Claes asuu viereisessä veneessä (Laurin 32) ja tarjoutuu auttamaan meitä aurinkopanelin asennuksessa. Tämä maailman meriä seilannut ruotsalainen opastaa meidät myös Skandinavia-klubille, missä tätä juttua juuri kirjoitamme.
Huomenna perjantaina nostamme ankkurin ja suuntaamme keulan kohti Gran Canarian eteläosia.

We arrive in Las Palmas early in the morning which is often a very good time for entering a new marina because you can safely navigate to the very end. We have behind us a night sailing from Lanzarote to Gran Canaria under starry sky and pretty week wind. We stay in anchor and are very soon ready for an early sleep after being in the cockpit the whole night.
The marina is full of vessels becaue of the ARC (Atlantic Rally for Cruisers ) and that is why many other boats stay in anchor just beside the marina. We take our dinghy and are soon on marina area. Here we meet also our very good irish friend Sean who is the captain of the only irish sailing boat ( 34 feet White Wisper ) participating the ARC. We have dinner with Sean and this evening is the last for Joona who flies to Finland next morning. After this we go on sailing as earlier. There are many young people in the marina area who are willing to sail over the Atlantic. They are having their contact information and " CV " on a wall and many of them just ask us a vacant place in Canace. So we could easily pick up some extra hands from Las Palmas.
Las Palmas gives an opportunity for sailors to buy to their boat what ever needed. We buy a solar panel to exceed our energy output and in that way be more independent when sailing in places where the marinas might be far.
Claes the swedish captain of S/Y Ambra ( Laurin 32 ) helps us to install the solar panel. This swedish experienced sailor lives in his boat and also takes us to the Scandinavian club.
Tomorrow on friday we go on sailing and head a short distance to the southern harbours of Gran Canaria.
