Ensimmäiset päivät vietämme Puerto Caleron satamassa, mikä osoittautuu palveluiltaan erinomaiseksi. Saapuessamme satamaan laiturilla odottaa uusi miehistön jäsen, Hannan poika Joona. Vietämme useamman päivän satamaelämää, mikä tarkoittaa mm. pyykinpesua, kauppareissuja, veneen huoltoa ja siivousta. Kauppareissut tehdään joko jalan tai pyörällä läheiseen Puerto Carmenin kaupunkiin. Purjeneuloja korjaa revenneen mesaanin pikavauhtia. Meillä on myös ilo tavata oululaisen Tallu III:n miehistö Tarja ja Pekka veneessämme.
Yhtenä päivänä vietämme uintipäivää laskemalla ankkurin läheisen hiekkarannan kupeeseen. Säät suosivat ja merivesi on kirkasta ja lämmintä.
Calerosta lähdemme pohjoiseen kohti La Graciosan saarta. Joudumme auttamaan menoa moottorilla vastaisessa tuulessa, jotta ehdimme perille ennen pimeän tuloa.
Isla Graciosa tekee meihin lähtemättömän vaikutuksen. Korkeita vuoria ja valkoista hiekkaa. Ankkuroimme veneen lähes 40 veneen joukkoon ankkurilahdelle.
Sanonta "Riisu kengät ja unohda maailma" sopii tänne. Emme ihan unohda, mutta viivymme kuitenkin kolme yötä ankkurissa.
Mikä on miehistön treenatessa valkoisella hiekalla. Pari ukemiakin tulee tehtyä.
Jätämme Isla Graciosan ja purjehdimme kohti saaren eteläosaa länsipuolitse pienillä purjeilla kovassa tuulessa ja suurissa aalloissa.
Saavumme nopeasti Marina Rubicoon. Marinan ympärille on muodostunut laaja hotellien, ravintoloiden ja kauppojen verkosto. Täällä satamaelämään kuuluu mm. uima-altaalla löhöily.
St. Brieucissa Ranskassa tapaamamme Ron ja Beth tulevat tervehtimään meitä Rubicoon ja vievät meidät autollaan Timanfayan kansallispuistoon, missä saamme tutustua saaren tulivuoren historiaan ja siihen, miten tulivuorenpurkaukset ovat vaikuttaneet saaren maaperään (neljännes saaresta peittyi laavaan ja tuhkaan). Kuumainen maisema levittäytyy eteemme..
Puolitoista viikkoa on vierähtänyt Lanzarotella. Huomenna perjantaina veneen keula suunnataan kohti Gran Canariaa ja Las Palmasia.
The first days we stay in Puerto Calero which is an exellent marina with all facilities needed. Here we for.ex get our mizzen mended within 2 days. Hannas son Joona also join us here in Puerto Calero Marina to sail with us some 1,5 weeks. We relax and live marina life which also means that we are to take care of the normal routines. The boat has to be " shipshape " before next step and also the crew has to be taken in consideration. We do shopping near by and also far in Puerto Carmen where we get easily by our bikes. One day we take a tour out of harbour by boat and stay in anchor and enjoy swimming in warm very clean water. In the evening we are glad to get the crew of S/Y Tallu 3 ( Pekka and Tarja ) for our guests in Canace.
Our next harbour lies in the NW corner of Lanzarote some 35 miles from Puerto Calero. The wind is on our nose and we help the situation by motorsailing a while so as to be ale to reach the goal before it is dark. We stay in a sheltered bay in anchor for 3 days and explore the fantastic island of Graciosa. Here we feel to be very far away and the nature with long sandy beaches make an impression. Of this island they say: " Leave your shoes and forget the world ".
Again a good blow when it is the time for departure. With strongly reefed sails we make quickly this 40 miles distance to Marina Rubico and get extra miles from the waves which as the wind come behind us. Marina Rubico is again of high class with also swimming pool for sailors.
Here we meet Ron and Beth whom we met last summer in St. Brieuc. This sailing couple has a place here in Lanzarote where they spend a period after sailing season is over in Brittish Isles. Ron and Beth visit Canace ant they take us by car to the national park of Timanfaua where we have an opportunity to see a vulcanic area and hear the historical story of Lanzarote. The landscape in Timanfaua looks similar to the one in moon.
After some 1,5 weeks in Lanzarote we head to Las Palmas in Gran Canaria.
