Leixoes - Aveiro - Figueira da Foz

Leixoes jää taakse ja kevyestä tuulesta johtuen päätämme purjehtia Aveiroon, missä ainoa mahdollisuus pysähtyä satamassa on laskea ankkuri. Runsaan 30 mailin matka taittuu purjeilla ja saavumme sataman suulle, mistä suunnistamme ankkurilahdelle. Aveiron satama on suojainen ja ankkuripaikkana mainio. Satamaan voisi joutua jäämään useammaksikin päiväksi, jos merenkäynti kasvaisi liian suureksi, jolloin satama suljetaan. Tällä kertaa tätä riskiä ei ole näköpiirissä.


Ennen pimeän tuloa soudamme maihin ja täydennämme ruokavarastoamme paikallisessa minimarketissa. Noin kymmenen neliön suuruisen kaupan tuotevalikoima on laaja (kenkiä, vaatteita, ruokatarvikkeita, juomia jne.). Kauppaa hoitaa vanha pappa, joka ilahtuu suunnattomasti kuullessaan meidän olevan Suomesta. Ulko-ovella lepäilee vanhan papan vanha koira ja kaupassahan ei tunneta aukioloaikoja.


Lähdemme liikkeelle aamulla Aveirosta poikkeuksellisesti harmaassa ja sateisessa säässä. Noin 35 mailin purjehdus Aveirosta Figueira da Foziin tehdään osaksi moottorilla ajaen. Pääsemme kuitenkin nauttimaan myös purjehduksesta maatuulen yllättäessä meidät iloisesti.
Turismin kyllästämä kaupunki ei puhuttele meitä erityisesti ja yhden yön marinassa olon jälkeen olemme valmiita matkantekoon.


We leave the harbour of Leixoes and take our course to Aveiro approximately 30 miles southwards. The weak wind makes it possible to sail but not further. In Aveiro you can only lie in anchor which is convenient and our favourite way of stopping. Sometimes the harbour will be closed due to big swell out of harbour. This time this risk is theoretical. Before sunset we row to the small centre near by ( the city of Aveiro is also near and you can reach it by a little ferry ). We ran out of some food etc. small things. The local " Mini Market " is a natural choice to take course. We arrive to a 10 m2 big shop where from you can buy many things( clothes, shoes, food, drinks etc. ). The shop is run by an old chap who kindly takes care of us and is very happy after heard that we are from Finland. In the corridoor also a very old dog of this man mentioned above is sleeping and for sure this shop seems to have no closing times.
Next morning is exceptionally rainy and it sounds reasonable to go on. Figuera da Foz would be our next port and again distance from Aveiro there would be around 35 miles. We start with engine but are very soon sailing again in a moderate eastern blow.
Figuera da Foz is more a touristic center and is not specially attempting us. Next day we have no difficulty to loose the ropes and take our next step.
